“C.S. LEWIS: BEYOND NARNIA” DVD RELEASES MARCH 28 A perfect companion piece to Disney’s “The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”
Due largely to the unprecedented success of the recent Disney release of the beloved “The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” which has grossed over $600 million worldwide to date, millions of fans have become “a part” of the land of Narnia and the amazing stories that lie within.
However, many still do not know the extraordinary creative force – C.S. Lewis – who created this beloved tale, and the undeniable faith and “calling” that led him to write such a masterpiece <>
“C.S. Lewis: Beyond Narnia,” which will be released on DVD by Gaiam March 28, is a masterful portrayal of the life of C.S. Lewis and his heart behind the creation of Narnia and so many other stories. The one-hour docudrama, which was filmed in many of the actual locations in England where Lewis studied, lived, and worked, is a dramatic reenactment of his life.
The Hallmark Channel premiere of the docudrama originally aired on December 9, in primetime exclusively on the Hallmark Channel and coincided with the blockbuster theatrical release of Walt Disney Pictures’ “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.” The release of “C.S. Lewis: Beyond Narnia” on DVD will likewise coincide with the DVD release of Disney’s “The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.”

By using Lewis’ own words, documentary meets drama in a very pleasing, intelligent, and engaging way. The breadth of Lewis’ work lends itself well to such an approach, and is molded into a beautiful, balanced piece of art and understanding by Stone . . . Without flinching, Beyond Narnia delves into the profound crests and canyons that Lewis traversed, without over- or underplaying any single event. Rather, it is a full depiction of some of the most profound experiences that shaped Lewis into the man he was . . . C. S. Lewis: Beyond Narnia brings us “further up and further in” to the life of the creator of Narnia, offering the audience a glimpse into the heart of the man whose wisdom and insight still holds influence in literary, philosophical, and theological discussions forty years after his death. - Jenn Wright, Hollywood Jesus.com Full Review At: www.hollywoodjesus.com

The family-oriented and exceptionally well-made program examines Lewis' personal and spiritual life . . . But the real arc charted is that of Lewis' circular spiritual journey from cradle Christian, to avowed atheist, to staunch defender of Christian orthodoxy, and how he struggled to reconcile his faith -- especially his belief in a benevolent, omnipotent God -- with the existence of pain and suffering . . . rewarding viewing for not only fans of his Narnia books, but for anyone interested in learning about one of the most keen Christian and literary minds of the past century. - David DiCerto, Catholic News Service, Catholic.org Full Review At: www.catholic.org
